Happy 4th of July!! We were able to go down to Texas to spend the 4th with the Bensen clan and we had such a great and crazy time! There are lots of pics cause we have lots of stories, so be prepared!!!

They have a swimming pool in their complex so we were able to go swimming a couple of different times. Emma was a crazy woman, jumping off the sides and doing flips in the water. Aiden loved running around the pool, kicking is ball, and jumping in to dad.

Then on the 4th Spencer and his sister Chalai signed up to run a 5k race. So they headed out early to get signed up and we were suppose to meet them before the race. Well, it was just me and Hyrum getting all seven kids dressed, feed, and hair done. so we were a little late, but don't they look so cute?

So, we missed the start of the race. But we did get to see them finish the race.
Chalai finished in 24: 30 and got third place-way to go!!! (She is the one in the white shirt.)

Spencer finished in 27:15 which was way awesome since he only has been training for a couple of weeks. It was a little weird though cause he walked across the finish line. I remember thinking he must think he has already crossed it. Well, come to find out he wasn't all the way coherent at this point.

He started staggering around so I tried to get him to drink some water and told him he needed to sit down before he passed out. Then he started to see things-he thought people were throwing balls at us- so I asked some one to get a trainer.

We put some cold towels on him to try to cool him off and the trainer started asking him questions, that he couldn't answer, so we called 911 and they came to the rescue with sirens blaring and the firetruck in tow. What a site!

When they asked him what had happened he kept telling them he fell and hit his head really hard. So they decided he needed to be loaded up and taken to the ER.

In the ER they loaded him down with ice and started pumping the fluids. By the time Hyrum and I got there, ( we left all 7 kids with Chalai at the park, luckily there were some friends there that help out) he was doing much better. He doesn't remember much about the race or anything after the 3 mile marker. Just bits and pieces of the paramedics asking him questions and then waking up in the ambulance being scared cause he didn't know what had happened.

Thankfully, after only an hour the doctors said he was fine and that we could go home. So we missed out on the parade and spent the rest of the day inside. Which was fine cause it was super super hot. Hyrum did make us a very yummy BBQ dinner that we had with some friends.

Then we had a quick dip in the pool and then we took off for the fireworks.

We watched the fireworks from the bottom of a hill that kids had the time of their lives going down. People had brought cardboard boxes to use to slide down the hill. We found one big enough for all the girls-and sometimes us moms and dads-to go down together on. I can't even tell you how many times they went down!! It was the best!!

Aiden did not like the idea of going down the hill so he just hung out with dad who was taking it easy.

After all the hill sliding was over it was time for the fireworks. This is my favorite part of the 4th, to bad my kids didn't think so.

They ended up falling asleep cause they didn't want to watch them!

Even with our crazy morning we had a really great 4th of July. Thanks Bensen's for letting us come down and for all the fun. Can't wait to see you guys again!
