Memorial Day Party

So I decided that we needed to have a Memorial Day Party. So I invited the gang and we headed for the park. We have a park by our house that just got a new splash park so we had our party there so that everyone could run and play in the water and stay cool since it was 90 degrees today. One of our friends has grill that they brought so we had a BBQ with tons of food. It was all so good-thanks everyone for the great food!

Here are some of the pics from the splash park, we will definitely be spending a lot of time there this summer.

Gymnastics

Emma had her first gymnastics class yesterday and she did so good. It was so cute to watch her try to do all the things that the teacher wanted her to do. I was a way proud mom! I am excited to she how she improves.
She told me that she tried really hard and that she clapped for her friends when they did a good job. Her favorite part was jumping on the long tramp- she was suppose to jump with her hands on her head and she did pretty good even though she said it was a little tricky. She also liked the rope swing now that she is a pro at it.

Messy Boy

I got Aiden these new crackers for him to naw on while I am making dinner. He totally loves them-as you can tell. However, I learned the hard way that I have to totally strip him down cause it gets every where!

Our new swing set

So for the last month or so I have been on the hunt for a used swing set. They are very hard to find cause as soon as one is available it is gone. Well, thanks to Becca and her neighbor we finally got a swing set. Becca's neighbor was trying to get rid of theirs and Becca told them that we have been looking for one forever. So on Tuesday night we went over to get it. We had to borrow Dan and Becca's truck to haul it to our house so Spencer and Dan headed over to unload it. The kids and I were going to follow in our car in a few minutes-that way it could be all set up when we got home. Well, as they were leaving I realized that Spencer had the keys. We tried to run after them but they were to fast. So I had to call and tell him to make sure he sends the keys back with Dan. While we were waiting for Dan to return with the keys; I realized that all the bolts to the swing set were in my pocket. :) We totally didn't plan the swing set operation out very well. But we were able to get it set up that night. Then on Wednesday me and the kids went and got new swings and we spent the rest of the day outside.

Emma and Aiden both love their new swings. Emma can even push herself, which makes me happy cause I don't have to push her the whole time.

Even Toto got in on the action! Here is a little video of the kids on their new swing set! Thanks again Becca for finding us a swing set!

Camp out Oklahoma style...

So...we had another camping trip this weekend. Hyrum and Chalia's ward was having a ward camp out and they invited us to come along since it was in Oklahoma. However, it was closer to TX then to us :) And this was the scene out side our tent...

Nothing like camping in OK! We had a great time and their ward had lots of fun activites for everyone, but the hight light was the rope swing. At first Emma would only go with me..

But soon she got brave and off she went by herself...

She also was able to go on a boat ride and try her hand at fishing. Spencer said that he showed her once and then she was an old pro. I think she gets that from my side of the family-not from me, but my side of the family :)

Another highlight were the tractors. The kids thought they were so cool driving them. I was just glad it kept them happy while we waited forever for dinner.

And I am sure that everyone is wondering what Aiden was doing the whole time. Well, besides being lugged around, not much. :) But he did love the watermelon...

8 Months

Aiden turned 8 months old on Thursday. I can't believe it! Time seems to be going by so fast. Well, most of the time, there are some days that last forever :)

Right now he is trying to figure out the crawling thing. He gets out onto his hands and knees and then smack, face plant. Spencer says he is to much of a spas to crawl. He is always moving his arms and legs but they never touch the ground. They just wave around in the air.

He also loves to talk. He says da da all the time, he even has a different da da just for Spencer. Maybe someday he will say ma ma. He is the happiest when Emma is playing with him. She is always making him laugh!

He is such a cutie and we love him very much!

Let's go fly a kite...

On Friday we decided to go kite flying in our backyard. Emma and Spencer tried as hard as they could to get the kite up in the air but it just wasn't windy enough in our backyard.
Emma ran around and around trying to get it go high. She was sad that we couldn't get it to fly so we decided to head to the park so that we could get it to go "way up high"
At the park Emma was more interested in picking flowers then flying her kite. But once she realized that it really did go way up high at the park she was all over it.
She was running around saying "I'm doing it. I'm doing it." She was so proud of herself. But she kept wanting it to go higher and higher.Soon there was no string left and it came crashing down into the tree. She was so sad but luckily dad was there to save the kite. After that she stayed far away from the trees.

Lil' Pirates at Play

Our school district has a program call OPAT -Oklahoma parents as teachers. Once a month they have play groups were you go and learn new activities to do with your child that are fun and educational. At the end of the year they always have a big theme party at the park. This year it was Lil' Pirates at play and we had a ton of fun.

Emma had gotten her eye patch earlier this week and couldn't wait to wear it to her pirate party. She was so excited to get her hat-it didn't last long on cause it was sooo windy-and her treasure map. Whenever I asked her where we should go next she got out her treasure map to find the way. It was way cute. They had lots of fun activities; we read stories about the ocean, played in the water with fish and boats, looked for gold coins in the sand box, rowed a boat, wrestled an alligator, and made huge bubbles. They also had a station where you could get your picture taken as a pirate.

Emma and Aiden rowing their pirate ship.

Aiden's favorite part was the water. He stood there all by himself for quite awhile playing in that water. He was mad when it was time to go. But his poor little hands where ice cold.

Emma wrestling the 6 foot alligator puzzle that we put together. They thought it was pretty cool.

The highlight was the bubble blowing. I am not sure how that relates to pirates. But the girls had a blast making huge bubbles. All they had to do was lift up the stick and the wind would do the rest.
