Class of 2023...

Here is Emma's pre-k class pictures. Aren't they so cute? Isn't crazy to think about the year 2023? Who knows what the world will be like then.

She wasn't very happy that she had to set by Mecka. He has a little crush on her-always wanting to sit by her ,be in her station, and makes her things in class all the time. I think it drives her crazy! Which makes me happy :)

Projects

So, Emma is obsessed with projects. I am constantly trying to come up with things she can do, that we have stuff for, and that doesn't need to much of my help. So yesterday I decided she could start sewing. She decided she wanted to make a butterfly. So we picked out fabric for the body and for the wings, cut out the pieces, and then she started sewing. She did awesome! She sewed the whole body all by herself. We haven't made it to the wings yet, I will post a picture of the final project.
While Emma was doing her project Aiden decided he needed to make something too. So he went looking through the "treasure box" (just my hope chest full of our learning toys) and he built himself a tower with a flag. He then proceeded to knock it down and build it back up over and over again. If only Emma was that easily entertained! :)

A week of fun...The Lake...

Lake Arcadia is one of my favorite places to go so I really wanted to take them there. I knew the kids would have a blast and it is always fun to do something different. So we bundled up even more and headed out.
It was super cold but as long as you were moving it wasn't horrible. (It is crazy that last Spring break we were swimming in the lake) The kids had a great time playing in the sand, they even have a new play ground right off the beach that was tons of fun too.

We roasted hot dogs and made smores over the very nice and warm fire. Aiden was a little pyro-he wanted to put sticks in it, poke it, and cook all the food. He did a pretty good job at it.

It is tradition to go the the "log" and get a picture. The kids went running over there while we put the rest of the stuff in the car. All of a sudden I hear Emma screaming at the top of her lungs, she had fallen, hit her back on the log, and then landed on her back (I am not sure how she did this). She was in a lot of pain right then, later that day, and even the next morning, good thing the log wasn't any higher off the ground. But she was a good sport and smiled for the picture.

The kids loved the big pile of leaves and had a great time throwing them on each other.

After that we were all ready to head home for a hot bath and warm blankets!!

A week of fun...The Zoo...

My brother Chad, his wife Amber, and their two kids Carter and Addison, came out to visit for Springbreak. And we had a total blast. They have never been to OKC so I tried to do some of our favorite things-it would have been a lot funner if it wasn't so cold. Oh, well.
Saturday Amber and I went to the consignment sale and then met up with everyone at Chick-fil-A, then that night we went to our annual ward Chili/Chocolate Cook-off. I didn't win :( but I loved my new chili recipe that Chad gave me.
Sunday we went to church and then just hung around at home.
Monday we bundled up and headed to the zoo. They had just opened the new Children's Zoo and we wanted to check it out. It is cool-not as cool as I was hoping for but the kids liked it.

The petting zoo:

The slide (think Chad was more scared then the kids:))

Spencer was able to meet up with us for his lunch break and then we had all planned to meet up for dinner after we went to the bombing memorial. But by the time we left the zoo we were all tired and cold so we just headed home and then went to dinner after Spencer was done working.

Cinderella

Two of the girls from our ward were in their HS production of Cinderella. So of course we wanted to take the girls. They were excited to get all dressed up and have a mom and daughter date with all their friends. Emma was so excited that she got to wear her dress up shoes out of the house-even though she lost her "glass" slipper a million times!

The three musketeers: Jaycie, Emma, and Margie

All the little princesses: Lilly, Jaycie, Elane, Margie, and Emma
Cathrine was the Fairy Godmother and did an amazing job. I loved her gown!

Heather (who is Emma's favorite babysitter) was the Stepsister and she was hilarious! She did an amazing job!

And finally they got to meet Cinderella. PCW always does an awesome job with their musicals. Can't wait to go next year.

Papa Mitchell

Saturday Grandpa Mitchell was able to swing by our place on the way to NYC. We were all very excited to see him. We met him at the truck stop to check out the "big truck" again. This time Aiden wanted a real ride so Grandpa took us around the parking lot and then showed off his mad parking skills-I think you have to be "mad" to try to park on of those things!!
We decided to head downtown to show Grandpa the OKC Bombing Memorial. It was been a really long time since we had been there. I forget how really cool it is there. I think Grandpa really liked it too.

Behind us is the survivor tree. It survived the blast and keeps on growing. Also, there are chairs to mark the spot were people were found in the building.

They have an area where you can write things about the people or whatever. My kids had a great time coloring.

Emma took it very serious and made a heart and then wrote I love you.

After we went to Target and Grandpa let them pick out a special toy just from him. They were totally excited. Aiden picked out a batman and batcycle and Emma got a new Polly pocket-she totally loves those! Then we were able just to hang out and enjoy have Papa with us for a few hours. Hope you can swing by again soon!!

Happy Birthday To Me!!!!

I love birthdays! And I have found that as a mom they aren't always what you want them to be so I have found that if you make everything you do-for a whole week-because it's your birthday the whole day is better. For example, we went and saw New Moon on Sat-because it is my birthday,we had pizza and rented a movie on Monday-because it is my birthday (we do this almost every Monday-gotta love 3.99 little ceasers), we went to Chick-fil-A for an afternoon milkshake-because it is my birthday, Friday we are having a Girls Night Out-because it is my birthday, and today was a great day- because it really is my birthday!
This afternoon Becca watched my kids so I could go get my eyebrows done and spend all my birthday money. This might be my new birthday tradition, to have a few hours of me time during the day.I got some super cute clothes that I am very excited to wear, now it just needs to warm up a little bit more :)Then the kids and I made my birthday cake and got ready to meet Spencer at dinner. Emma has dance class on Wed so we went there first and then when Spencer got there, we headed out for some Mexican, yummy. Then back to our house for some cake and present opening. I really only had one present to open-books from my mom. Everything else I bought today or have had for a while already or is still being shipped-my new spin shoes from Spencer and the kids. The kids were so excited to put candles on my cake and sing happy birthday. I wish you guys could have heard Aiden, he was so dang cute singing!

Don't you just love the candles the kids picked out?

Emma was in charge of taking pictures. She told me after that she was working so hard on taking pictures that she couldn't sing me happy birthday so then she sang it to me.

Thanks everyone for all the calls and cards and presents and yummy strawberries! It really was an awesome birthday!

The new bathroom!

Our bathroom is finally done and I am super excited with the way it turned out. I still need to put some decorations up but I am not 100% sure on what I want. So if you have any ideas, feel free to let me know!
Here is what our old bathroom looked like. It wasn't horrible but it was not what I really wanted. We just kinda worked with what we had at the time-7 years ago!
And this is the new bathroom! We took out the old vanity, textured some of the walls, painted, stained our new vanity, new sink and fixtures-which is usually so easy to do but turned into a nightmare!-new towels, new shower curtain (thanks Dest for the gift card to buy it)and we framed our old mirror with molding-it turned out awesome, I love it!

I am going to but some sort of artwork over the toilet and something over the towel rack.

I love the way the vanity turned out. It is just so clean and fresh. The kids love it. They get so excited to use the "new" bathroom.

Thanks Spencer for all your hard work to do my easy bathroom redo. Sorry it didn't turn out so easy. But hey, now you are a pro at plumbing problems!!

And now on to the next project-my bathroom. My goal is to have my house already ready to sell by next year so it isn't a mad dash to get it all done.
