Lake Arcadia

We had a great day today! It was Spencer's day off so again, we made the most of it. We decided to go to Lake Arcadia and go "camping" for the day. We had heard that they had a beach area but we were not exactly sure what to expect. Well, it was awesome! We were the only ones there, the beach was clean, and the water was warm-well sorta warm!
After we got there we found out that the kids had to have life jackets on to go in the water. So Spencer had to go buy some-if any one is planning on going and want to borrow them, let me know! Aiden wasn't a huge fan of the water or the life jacket so we ended up taking it off him after awhile.

Spencer and Emma had a great time going out into the deeper part of the water and swimming. Even though Emma was worried about the fish trying to bite her. I am sure it didn't help that Spencer kept on pretending that his feet were the fish biting her!

Aiden's favorite part was just digging in the sand. Next time we go I will make sure to bring shovels and buckets.
Emma and I had fun writing our letters in the sand.
When we were all done hanging out at the beach we headed up to our campsite for hot dogs and smores. It was great-minus the flies that wouldn't leave us alone. At one point they were all flying around Aiden's bum and I said jokingly-what is he poppy or something-and sure enough he was! Funny!

Emma showing off her marshmallows. She doesn't like them cooked, I was busy making sure Aiden didn't fall in the fire, so Spencer was the only one who ate a smore. Oh well, it is the thought of it that is fun!
For some reason Aiden really liked the smoke from the fire. He keep on walking into and laughing.
We wanted to get a family picture of us camping. It took about 4 tries with the self timer to get this one. But I thought it turned out cute. Emma thought it was fun so she kept on wanting to do more!

Zoo Day

Today was Spencer's day off so we headed to the zoo. It was a great day for it. It was a little cool in the morning so all the animals were out and about. It is always fun to see them being active and not just laying around in the hot sun.

When we were seeing the monkeys the zoo keepers where getting their lunch ready and they were going crazy. It was a little loud and Aiden did not really care for them. Most of the animals made him a little nervous, I think this is the first time he noticed that there were big animals at the zoo!

His favorite animal right now is the giraffe. He loves the toy ones that we have at home. And so when we stopped and the giraffes he was so excited! It is kinda funny cause that was Emma's favorite at this age as well.
We always go to the jungle gym after we see the animals. This is us all trying to fit down a little slide. I was totally squashed!

Soccer Practice

Last weekend I took Emma to see her friends Joby and Margie play soccer and the whole time she wanted to know why I didn't sign her up to play. Luckily we know the coach-it is Becca, Margie's mom-so she let us come to the next practice to try it out.

I wasn't sure how Emma would do, I didn't even know if she could kick the ball. But she did pretty good for her first time. She kept wanting to pick up the ball when it wasn't going where she wanted it too. But she did finally make it to the other end and score.
Becca had them practice some soccer drills and then they tried to have a game. Emma was the first to have a chance to score while the other kids tried to steal the ball away. She was doing really well, but when she tried to score she missed and she totally fell apart! She was so sad that she didn't score. I tried to get her to go back and she gave it a try, but everything after that made her cry.
On they way home she told me she didn't really like it and that she doesn't want to go back to practice. I told her that that was ok and I was proud of her for giving it a try. I think we better just stick to the girly stuff :)
At least one of my kids had a great time chasing the ball around!

Daddy Daughter Date

Tonight Emma and Spencer were going to go on a daddy/daughter date. And she was sooooo excited. Any little noise she asked if it was dad, anytime I asked her to do something she couldn't cause she had to get ready for her date. When it was finally time to get ready she decided she wanted to wear a dress so that she would look pretty for her date!
Spencer took her to Braums for ice cream. He said that she was so excited that she was jumping up and down in line. They had a great time sharing their hot fudge Sunday and talking. They even were nice and brought one home for me and Aiden to share.

First Day of School

Emma had her first day of school today. She was so excited that she even let me do a photo shoot with her! She had tons of fun striking different poses.

I just wanted to show off her hair. I thought it turned out so cute. To bad I don't have a cute bow to match!
Emma's school is actually a joy school that me and 4 other moms do together. We rotate each week whose house it is at. This is the third year doing it and the kids love it. This year we changed it up a little since they are all either 3 or 4. We drop the kids off and they stay for an hour and a half. As apposed to the last two years when all the moms stayed and the lesson was about 30 to 45 min. We decided we needed to get them a little more ready for preschool next year. They are learning to recognize and write their letters, number, shapes, and colors.
Emma loved her first day of school. She was so excited to show me all the stuff they did. Thanks to the fellow joy school moms for all your hard work!
