A relaxing Sunday afternoon

I love Sunday afternoons when it is so nice out side and we get to spend the day together. We decided to head to the lake. I have always loved the water, it is so calming. So we did a little walking around and climbing on the rocks.

Then we busted out the tball set and played some ball. We all had a great time hitting the ball and trying to catch the ball.

For some reason when it comes to hitting a ball, whether it be the baseball or a golf ball, Aiden is a lefty. But with everything else he uses his right hand. Any pointers on how a lefty should hit the ball?

OK State Fair

Tuesday was Two dollar day at the state fair. We haven't been to the fair since our 1st year out here so we thought we would give it a try. It pored down rain in the morning but by the afternoon it was pretty sunny. That made it for a very pleasant evening. We only had 2 hours we could spend there so we were able to hit just a couple of things.
The first thing we did was the petty zoo. Why? I don't know. My kids don't like them, they are totally scared to get that close to the animals. But, hey, one of these days they might change their minds so we keep on trying. Plus, I like them :)
Spencer and Emma with the Llama, he had the coolest hair. For some reason Emma was worried he would come up and get her bum when she turned around for the picture.

Me and Aiden with the water buffalo. He has just licked my arm so Aiden was worried that he would get him next.

Next we stopped off at a trick horse show. It was pretty impressive what they could do on a saddle with a horse running around the corral. If you can't tell the guy is up side down. Emma was totally impressed the whole time.

Next was the "Jump" dog show. By far the coolest thing of the night. The kids LOVED it! And so did we.

If you go the the Oklahoma fair you have to see the pig races. Unfortunately we were a little late so we could only see one race. But it was the only one that mattered since the OU pig won.

Next came the food. It is my favorite part of the fair. The kids had yummy corn dogs, and we had the best roasted corn ever, and pizza. Don't ask me why we ended up getting pizza and not my favorite, Indian Tacos, it is a long, boring story.

When we were about to leave, Emma said that we didn't even get to do anything or get anything; so we found some clowns, and each of the kids got a balloon animal. Well, Aiden got a sword, he knew exactly what he wanted, so he went up to the clown and told him. It was super cute.

Even though it was a way fast fair trip we had a great time and will be back next year. Hopefully, we will be able to spend a little more time there. I am sure there were a ton of cool things that we missed :)

A "Roaring" good time

We had Aiden's bday party today and it was a totally blast. We had a jungle party and it turned out really cute. Each kid received a animal hat and lion coloring board to work on while everyone was arriving.
Then we started the games:
First was pin the nose on the Elephant. Only the big kids let me blind fold them; but the little kids had fun just putting it on where ever.

Next was the Zebra ring toss:

Then was the Monkey bean bag toss. I had decorated the whole area with plants and monkeys.

Next came presents:
Light savor from Jackson. As soon as he saw it he started yelling" Darth Vader".

Motorcycles and coloring book from Jakey, Margie, and Ethan

Tonka Truck from Joby.

He also got a puzzle from Sofie, a train set from our Grandma neighbor, Donna, and a 4wheeler and clothes from our other neighbor Grandma, Debbie. It was so sweet of them to come.

Emma told me a long time ago that she thought it would be fun to have a rice crispy cake for Aiden's birthday. So we tried it out and it was so cute and super easy to do!! We also had frozen chocolate covered banana (which we soft and gooey by the time we ate them-oh well), cupcakes, and root beer.

Singing happy birthday to Aiden.

Getting ready to blow out the candles.

The gang eating the goodies.

After the party everyone was sent home with their animal hat and a goody bag with safari stickers, their lion coloring board, a 3D jungle animal puzzle, and a thank you card from Aiden.
Thanks everyone for coming. We had a great time!!

Happy Birthday Aiden

Tuesday was Aiden's birthday. He is now 2 years old. Can you believe it? He is getting so big!!
Tuesday morning was preschool at my house and so I turned it into somewhat of a birthday party- we were talking about the letter B. So we played some games, learned about B and the number 2, and then had cupcakes and sang to Aiden. The boys loved the cupcakes!!
Jakey, Aiden, and Ethan digging in.

That night when Spencer got home we opened presents, had a nice dinner with corn on the cob-Aiden's favorite- went to the mall to play, and had more cupcakes and ice cream.

His favorite gift were the new pirate swords from Emma-he had been using paper towel holders :) All day long he plays pirates and bad guys. He kills me hundreds of times and then walks over and says "you ok"

He was very excited about the new soccer ball from Grandpa and Grandma Mitchell. Anything that has to do with hitting or kicking a ball, he loves.

Grandpa and Grandma Sautter sent him basketball shorts that he had to sleep in and then wear all day today! And a Diego radio that has been played tons of times already.

He had a really good birthday and we are all excited for his big Jungle party on Sat.

First Day for Little A

Today was Aiden's first day of preschool. It is the same one that we did with Emma; where there are six of us and we rotate houses. Each week we talk about a letter and a number. Today it was Jenn's house and the kids did really good considering it was their first time. It brought back memories of when I started with Emma.
Aiden had fun singing the songs and doing the activities. Even though he wasn't a big fan of the finger paints. I thought boys were suppose to like that stuff? I guess all the times of mom saying "Don't get messy" has sunk in. :)

Cardboard Boat Races

You read it right. Cardboard Boat Races. Spencer and some of his resident friends signed up to enter the 1st annual Cardboard Boat Races at Lake Arcadia. They worked every night for the last week or so trying to get it all put together.

Here is the finished project. The boats name was P.O.S., it really stands for Phi Sigma O-something or other!
Not to shabby I would say. However, compared to some of the others it was a little shabby! :)

The race was the trial run and the final run for the boat. Good luck guys!!
I didn't get any pictures of the race because I was to busy video taping it. I thought that would be funnier to see then pictures.
The guys did awesome. They got third place! I think they could have won but they got a little tied up on the turn around. They will have to work that out for next year.
After the race they had a Demolition Derby. It was the best part of the race. It was so funny watching all the boats ram into each other and then slowly start sinking. The guys held their own for awhile.

But once they started taking on water, the poor boat didn't have a chance.

The guys (plus a couple of kids), on their way in from sinking.

What is left of our P.O.S. boat!!

Eddy, Chris, Spencer, James, Brian, and Ryan.

They even got interviewed by a local newspaper. So if it makes the print, I will post it!!

Meet the Teacher/1st Day of School

On Wednesday Emma had her "Meet the Teacher" day. So we got all dressed up and headed over to her new school. She will be going to Ralph Downs home of the Roadrunners. I am super excited because it is a really nice school and the PTA seemed awesome. I can't wait to be involved in all the fun activities.

Emma goes to the AM Pre-K and her teacher is Mrs. Sorey. She was so nice and cute. She had some really fun things in her class. I know that Emma is going to love her.
This morning was the big day. I had to wake up both of the kids at the crack of dawn. But as soon as I reminded Emma about school she was up and ready to go. She wanted to wear her new "Christmas" dress from Grandma Mitchell. She looked so cute and so grown up. The backpack that she picked out is huge on her, oh well!
During the first hour of class there was a parent orientation, so I dropped Aiden off at my neighbors so that I could actually listen. They had everyone meet in the classroom and then the kids headed down to the library to watch a movie, while Mrs Sorey gave us a quick overview of the year. She has some really fun things planned. I am very happy that Emma has such a good teacher.

When I picked up Emma she said that she had a really fun time, that she didn't get to play with all of the toys yet and that she is super excited to go again tomorrow. Yeah!
